Short links.
No tracking.
- 1Paste a long link
- 2Tracking is removed
- 3Share the link or QR code
Shorten a link and turn it into a QR code. With a free account you can also lock links with a password. We use no tracking cookies and store no IP addresses.
Check where a link goes before you open it
Add a plus sign (+) to the end of any SKR.me link. Instead of opening the link, you’ll first see the address it leads to, so you can decide whether to continue.
skr.me/a8Kx2mOpens the destination
skr.me/a8Kx2m+Shows the destination first
If the link is password protected, the destination is shown only after the password has been entered.
What we store, and what we don’t
You see how many people opened your link. Nobody sees who opened it, including us.
We store
- The number of opens per day
- The country the link was opened from
- Device type and browser name
- The domain of the referring site
We don’t store
- IP addresses
- Tracking cookies or device identifiers
- The full address of the referring page
- Individual clicks with timestamps
- Anything that could identify a visitor
A URL shortener with QR codes, passwords and expiry
- QR code
- Every link comes with a QR code you can download as a PNG image or copy straight into your document.
- Password
- With a free account, only people who know the password reach the destination.
- Expiry
- Choose how long the link works: an hour, a day, a week or a month.
- Single-use links
- The link works once, or as many times as you choose, and then stops.
- Preview
- Add a plus sign after a link, e.g. skr.me/a8Kx2m+, to see where it goes before opening it.
- Clean addresses
- Tracking parameters are removed from the destination, so ad networks don’t get them through your link.
Questions
Is SKR.me free?
Yes. Without an account you can shorten 1 link a day, and a free account keeps up to 7 active links. Pro costs €6.49 a month and raises the limit to 150 active links.
Do you track the people who open my links?
No. We count opens per day and record only the country, device type, browser and referring domain as totals. We don’t store IP addresses or use tracking cookies, so individual visitors can’t be identified.
Can I make a QR code for my link?
Yes. Every short link comes with a free QR code that you can download as a PNG image for print or copy straight into a document.
How long do short links work?
Links created without an account work for up to 14 days and 100 opens. With a free account they work for 60 days and can be renewed, and Pro links stay active as long as you’re subscribed. You can also set a shorter expiry or an open limit.
Can I protect a link with a password?
Yes, with a free account. Add a password in the link options, and visitors must enter it before they are redirected. The destination stays hidden until then.
How is SKR.me different from Bitly?
SKR.me doesn’t collect personal data about the people who open your links, and Pro costs €6.49 a month with 150 active links and QR codes. Bitly offers more marketing features, such as landing pages and, on its higher plans, custom domains. See the full comparison
